R O S Y L A M BMy work is a portrait of the self through the life of sculptures. The sculptures are sometimes broken, sometimes with flowers or other forms for heads, sometimes written over with dreams or notes. Fragile and broken yet complete in themselves. The plaster wall pieces and paintings are both a reflection of the sculptures as well as an atmosphere and context for them. The paintings and the combination pieces are like backgrounds--not in the sense of backdrops but rather as remembrances of the hours the sculptures have spent together in the studio, as well as the models, friends and family mostly, that once posed for them.
The sculptures are often missing something, the paintings are transparent blurry and reduced in form, both are attempts to show how things live in between memory and feeling.
