1. June 25, 2012 Art that Tells a Story

This summer Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery is having exhibits simultaneously upstairs and downstairs in the barn. On July 11 “Art that Tells a Story” will open in the galleries downstairs. Boston artist, Frances Hamilton’s paintings tell the story of summers on Squam at a family camp. New Hampshire artist, Anne Garland’s work recounts the story of her residency in Nova Scotia while collaborating on a possible book with author, Joanne Cleary. Texas artist, Mark Stewart has documented the French countryside in watercolor from a train window while traveling from Paris to Lyon. We have loved these personal and intimate stories which will now be hung as an exhibit. The opening reception to meet the artists will be On July 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 69 Maple Street in Center Sandwich. Gallery hours are from 10 to 5 Monday through Saturday and from 12 to 5 on Sunday. For more information please visit our website at or call 284 7728.

On Saturday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. Artist Anne Garland and author Joanne Cleary will discuss their collaborative experiences during a residency in Baie Stainte Marie, Nova Scotia last summer. Inspired by sea life tossed onto the beaches by the tide, Joanne will read from her work and Anne’s paintings will be on exhibit. It will be an interesting discussion by two artists with different processes and different products.

Sandwich artist, CC white has developed a 4-session workshop to introduce participants to the creative process. Using a few basic tools and techniques, incuding drawing, writing, and music, CC will present simple exercises that are
designed to help you discover your own creative potential. This will be a fun, hands-on, interactive experience. Sessions will be July 26, Aug 2, Aug 9 and Aug. 16. at 9:00 a.m. For more information please call the gallery at 284 7728. Places are limited.

We look forward to seeing you at the gallery this summer.
